
Lady Flames to Compete in Kristen Dickmann Invitational at Navy

Liberty (1-1) will compete in the Kristen Dickmann Invitational, hosted by Navy (0-3), Thursday through Saturday. The Lady Flames will take on Navy, Cornell (0-0) and UC San Diego (3-0).
This will be Liberty's first visit to Navy since 1996, when the Lady Flames wrapped up a five-year run competing at tournaments hosted by Navy.
The 13th annual Kristen Dickmann Invitational pays tribute to the former Navy volleyball player who unexpectedly passed away in her dorm room in May 2008, three weeks after turning 19.
Fans unable to attend can watch Thursday's match between Liberty and Navy on ESPN+. Live stats for all three matches this weekend can be accessed through StatBroadcast.
Important Fan Information
Fans are not allowed to drive onto the USNA, unless they have a Department of Defense ID card.
Those without the DoD card must park outside of the USNA and EITHER ...
1) Walk through the visitors center, located at the corner of King George St. and Randall St. in downtown Annapolis (52 King George St., Annapolis, MD 21402).
OR
2) Ride the shuttle bus. It begins running one hour before the start of the first match of the day and ends four hours after the start of the last match.
-- On Sept. 5, 6 and 8, it will depart from and return to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (550 Taylor Ave., Annapolis, MD, 21401), near the Blue Angel jet located on the blue (west) side of the stadium. There is a $10 per vehicle cost to park, but the shuttle bus is free.
-- Due to the Navy home football game on Sept. 7, it will depart from and return to the Navy Medical Clinic (695 Kinkaid Rd., Annapolis, MD, 21402). There will not be a cost to park.
Those ages 18 and older must have and be prepared to display a government issued photo ID (driver's license) and those ages 17 and under will not be allowed through unless they are accompanied by an adult.

- Liberty went 1-1 at the Puerto Rico Invitational to open the season, falling to Iowa before topping Akron. The Lady Flames hit at a .250 clip on the weekend, including a robust .313 in the win over Akron.
- 2023 CUSA All-Conference second team selection Kate Gammer led Liberty with 3.86 kills per set on opening weekend, including a season-high 19 kills against Akron.
- Liberty's senior middle blockers Madison Blane (.423) and Autumn Flowers (.400) both averaged 1.86 kills per set, while Flowers posted 1.43 blocks per set. Blane was an AVCA All-Region first teamer last year, while Flowers was named Big South All-Conference honorable mention at Gardner-Webb.
- Paige Overcash scored 15 kills in her first career start, Saturday against Akron, the most kills by a Liberty true freshman since Kate Gammer in 2021.
- Senior Erica Lowery continues to be a stalwart at libero, averaging 3.71 digs per set. Setters Charli Morris (5.14 assists per set) and Charli Crowson (4.86) have served in a 6-2 system so far this season.
- Nolan Albrecht begins his first season at Liberty and first year as a women's volleyball head coach. He earned his first win at Liberty on Saturday, a 3-1 victory over Akron. He served as men's volleyball head coach at Belmont Abbey from 2017 through 2021. He led the Crusaders to a 51-45 overall record, and also guided them to their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth in 2021.
- Former Jacksonville State head coach Todd Garvey (2018-22) is an assistant on Albrecht's coaching staff this season. Brylee Kelly is in her first year as an assistant coach after finishing her collegiate playing career as NIVC champion at Wichita State last season.
- No players on Liberty's 2024 roster played in the Lady Flames' last meeting with Navy, a 3-1 win on Sept. 10, 2021 at Liberty Arena. However, four players from this year's team played a key role in Liberty's 3-2 comeback win at UC San Diego in 2022. Kate Gammer and Kamryn Bacus both scored 15 kills, while Erica Lowery collected 20 digs and Madison Blane posted four blocks.
- The Lady Flames are in their second season in Conference USA after five years as a member of the ASUN. Liberty was voted fourth in the 2024 CUSA preseason coaches poll, while seniors Kamryn Bacus and Madison Blane were voted to the Preseason All-CUSA Team.
