Liberty Prepares for Road Games at No. 21 Virginia Tech, West Virginia

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lady Flames soccer team begins a stretch of five consecutive road games with trips to No. 21 Virginia Tech on Thursday and West Virginia on Sunday. Thursday's contest is set for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff and will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra. Sunday's tilt is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Liberty (6-0) seeks its second-ever victory over No. 21 Virginia Tech (5-0-1). Liberty was among the teams receiving votes (5) in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll.

The Lady Flames look to repeat a 3-1 result from last season when West Virginia traveled to Lynchburg, Va. It was the first-ever matchup between the programs.

Liberty owns a perfect 6-0 record to begin the 2024 season. Liberty went 11-0 to start the 2023 season, which included a 3-1 home victory over West Virginia on Sept. 3.
Liberty is one of 14 women's soccer programs with a perfect record this season.
The Lady Flames have won nine of their last 10 games with the only loss coming to No. 4 seed Georgia (2-1 final) in the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship on Nov. 10.
Liberty has not beaten a ranked program (0-9) in the team's history.
Goalkeeper Peyton Huber (3-0) was selected as the Conference USA Player of the Week on Tuesday. The redshirt freshman made her first two career starts last week and did not allow a goal across her 90 minutes of play.
Halle Engle leads Liberty with four goals and nine points (1 assist). Each of the redshirt sophomore's scores have been the opening goal of the game, with two finishing as game-winners.
Liberty seeks its third all-time victory against an ACC program and its second against Virginia Tech (won 2-1 (OT) on Oct. 16, 2001).
West Virginia is the only Big 12 program Liberty has faced in its history.
The Lady Flames rank No. 21 in the country in total points with 44 and No. 23 in total goals with 15.
Liberty, the only CUSA team with a perfect record, leads CUSA in total goals (15), assists (14), points per game (7.33), goal differential (+11), shots per game (14.67) and corners per game (6.83). Engle leads the conference with four goals.
Both opponents this week have faced off with a common foe in Delaware. Liberty topped the Blue Hens 2-1 on Friday. Virginia Tech was victorious 1-0 over Delaware on Aug. 22 and West Virginia came out on top 2-0 on Aug. 15.
Liberty has held its opponents to five shots per game this season.
