
Liberty Falls to FIU 3-0 for First Loss of 2024

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The unbeaten season for Liberty women's soccer came to a close on Friday with FIU recording a 3-0 shutout victory at Osborne Stadium Friday night. Liberty (9-1-2, 1-1 CUSA) dropped its first game of the season to conference foe FIU (7-3, 2-0 CUSA).
The two teams battled through rain in the first half of the contest. The Panthers jumped ahead early in the first minute of the contest on a free kick that deflected to Catherine Rapp. The FIU midfielder put in a goal that Liberty goalkeeper, Grace Workman had little time to adjust to.
Liberty received a few chances in the first half, but could not connect. FIU boosted its lead to 2-0 in the 41' minute with a dart from Noemi Paquin who blasted a shot from well outside the 18-yard box.
FIU wasted little time to start the second half as Paquin shook off her defender and sent in a low shot that beat the outstretched arm of reserve goalkeeper Peyton Huber.

- Liberty drops its first game of the season in the 12th contest after building a 9-0-2 record. Liberty also lost its perfect season in 2023 its 12th game of the season after collecting an 11-0 record.
