Turning Point
Neither team found the back of the cage in the opening half. Old Dominion finally broke through on the final play of the third quarter, with Serena Langendoen scoring on a penalty corner to send the hosts into the fourth frame with a 1-0 lead.
Early in the fourth quarter, Liberty scored what appeared to be the game-tying goal, but the goal was taken off the board. Shortly after that, the Lady Flames knotted the score at 1-all. In the 48th minute, Reagan Underwood sent an aerial into the circle, which Josefina Tomasi gathered and ripped into the right side of the cage for her third goal of the season.
The Monarchs answered back in the 50th minute, with Emily Tammaro finding the back of the cage on a shot through a Liberty defender's legs that snuck into the left side. Liberty showed its resolve just over three minutes later, evening it up at 2-2 at the 52:33 mark. Following a penalty corner shot attempt and ensuing scrum in front of the net, Tuti Dell Anna knocked the ball past ODU netminder Suus Broers to tie it up.
Liberty played with a one-player advantage in the closing minutes due to an ODU yellow card, but the Monarchs' eighth and final penalty corner of the match netted the game-winning goal. Langendoen scored the final goal of the game at the 57:43 mark, a shot into the left side of the cage that deflected off the pad of Lady Flames goalkeeper Michaela Skinner.
