
Liberty Set for Home Meeting Against VCU Thursday, Contest at ETSU Sunday

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty Lady Flames soccer team looks to improve on a 2-0 record to begin the 2024 season when they host VCU at Osborne Stadium on Thursday evening and take on ETSU on the road Sunday.
Thursday's contest is slated to kick off at 5 p.m. Sunday is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start. Both contests will be broadcast on ESPN+.

- Liberty is coming off a 2-0 week to start the 2024 campaign with a 3-1 road victory at High Point and a 2-0 shutout victory over Old Dominion at home.
- The Lady Flames began the 2023 season with a 2-1 road victory at VCU on Aug. 18. Liberty won its next 10 contests to own an 11-0 record before its first defeat.
- Redshirt sophomore Halle Engle led the Lady Flames with five points (2 goals, 1 assist) last week. The forward returned to play after missing the 2023 season due to an injury.
- Midfielder Gabby Miranda scored twice in the season-opening victory. The sophomore netted her first career goals for Liberty.
- Defender Kayla Magee received the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week award. The South Carolina transfer was the only Lady Flame to play a full 90 minutes in either contest.
- Liberty split time between goalkeepers Grace Workman and Peyton Huber in both games. Workman started both contests with Huber coming in to start the second half.
- The Lady Flames opened 2024 with eight new starters compared to last season's CUSA Championship final.
- Liberty has won its past eight contests against in-state opponents dating back to Sept. 2, 2021. The Lady Flames last fell against a Virginia program in a 2-1 loss to VCU at home on Aug. 29, 2021.
- The Lady Flames have assisted on four of five goals. Engle's season-opening goal came on a free kick. Lysie Findley and Ava Goodman were each credited with an assist on Avery Paulson's goal against ODU.
- Liberty was one of two Conference USA programs to secure a 2-0 week along with Jacksonville State.
