LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty Lacrosse Field and the Lady Flames have been selected to host the 2025 ASUN Women's Lacrosse Championship for the first time in program history.
"Hosting the ASUN championship is not only a privilege, but a testament to the hard work and dedication of our administration, our community and the sport as a whole," Head Coach Kelly Nangle said. "It's an opportunity to showcase the best of the best in our conference, and we are honored to be a part of it!"
Liberty has hosted two postseason contests but will be the host of the championship tournament for the first time. As members of the Big South, The Lady Flames hosted Gardner-Webb in April 2015 (21-4 victory) and welcomed Longwood in April 2017 (20-13 triumph).
The past three ASUN Women's Lacrosse Championships have been held at Jacksonville, Fla. hosted by No. 1 seed Jacksonville. The Dolphins won the 2023 ASUN Women's Lacrosse Championship title. The event also occurred in Kennesaw, Ga. (Kennesaw State) in 2021 and in Conway, S.C. (Coastal Carolina) in 2019.
The Lady Flames are 4-5 all-time in ASUN Championship appearances. Liberty's first season in the ASUN was in 2019.
Liberty has reached the postseason every season that a championship tournament was held. The Lady Flames have been members of three conferences, the National Lacrosse Conference (NLC) from 2010-12, the Big South from 2013-18 and the Atlantic Sun (ASUN) from 2019-present.
