BATON ROUGE, La. – Liberty held No. 10 LSU at bay for four innings before the host Tigers scored twice in both the fifth and sixth innings to pull away for a 4-0 win over the Lady Flames on Friday at Tiger Park.
The Tigers improved to 37-13 on the season, including 27-6 at home. The Lady Flames fell to 31-21 on the campaign with their third straight setback.

Turning Point
- Liberty junior Elena Escobar allowed no hits through four innings. Sierra Daniel led off the bottom of the fifth with a single. After a sacrifice bunt, an infield single by McKenzie Redoutey put runners on the corners. Ali Newland broke the ice with a sacrifice fly, before Raeleen Gutierrez' RBI double made it 2-0.
- After LSU scored twice in the sixth for insurance, Tiger ace Sydney Berzon pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to seal the five-hit shutout.
- Liberty outhit LSU 5-4 for the game, as both teams committed one error. The Tigers left eight runners on base, while the Lady Flames stranded six.
- Berzon (17-7) tossed her third shutout of the season, scattering five hits while striking out four batters.
- Escobar (10-4) drew the loss, allowing two runs on three hits, walking four, hitting three and striking out four in five innings. Katie Love yielded two runs, one earned, on one hit, walking one in one innings.
- Four different Tigers recorded one hit each, including a pinch-hit single by Sierra Daniel which broke up Escobar's no-hit bid in the fifth. Also, Raeleen Gutierrez batted 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
- For Liberty, Rachel Roupe went 2-for-3 while Mary Claire Wilson, Brynn McManus and Megan Fortner all batted 1-for-3.
- LSU leads the all-time series against Liberty 4-0, including 2-0 at Tiger Park. These two teams last met in 2021, when the Tigers defeated Liberty twice at a tournament in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
- The Lady Flames are 3-8 this season against Top 25 teams.
- Roupe has reached base safely in each of her last 13 games, the longest reached-base streak by any Lady Flame so far this season.
