The Hokies (39-11-1) bounced back into the winning column after falling 2-1 in a series at Syracuse last weekend. Meanwhile, the Lady Flames fall to 31-20, including a 16-6 home record.

Turning Point
- Virginia Tech's two-run homers came courtesy of Addy Greene in the first and Bre Peck in the fifth.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Rachel Roupe was hit by a pitch with one out. After a flyout, Brynn McManus put Liberty on the board with an RBI triple to right.
- The Lady Flames brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh. Pinch hitter Hailey Deter led off with a single, going to second on a throwing error. Roupe walked with one out, before Hokies' pitcher Emma Lemley struck out Megan Fortner and McManus to end the game.
- Virginia Tech outhit Liberty 9-6 for the game. The Hokies committed two errors, while both teams left nine runners on base.
- Lemley (12-5) earned the win, allowing one run on six hits, walking two and fanning seven.
- Kaylan Yoder (10-8) drew the loss, yielding four runs on seven hits, with one walk and six strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Paige Bachman pitched 1 1/3 innings of two-hit softball, walking one and fanning one.
- Peck went 3-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and one run scored. Emma Ritter batted 2-for-4 with one run scored. Cori McMillan batted 2-for-4 with a double, while Addy Greene went 1-for-3 with a homer, two RBI and one run scored.
- For Liberty, Brynn McManus went 2-for-4 with a triple and one RBI. Rachel Roupe, Savannah Jessee and Hailey Deter had one hit each.
- Virginia Tech leads Liberty 42-16 in the all-time series, while the Hokies have won six straight games over the Lady Flames.
- The Lady Flames are 3-7 this season against Top 25 teams and are 6-9 all-time versus nationally-ranked opponents at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium.
- Roupe has reached base safely in each of her last 12 games, tying Mary Claire Wilson from earlier this season for the longest streak reaching base on the team.
