
Queens Comes Back to Down Liberty 18-15

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lady Flames fell to Queens 18-15 despite holding a 9-3 lead during the early part of the game. The contest was held at the Liberty Lacrosse Field on Saturday afternoon.
Liberty (4-9, 1-2 ASUN) dropped its second consecutive Atlantic Sun matchup with its loss to Queens (8-5, 2-0 ASUN).
The Lady Flames held a 9-3 lead midway through the second quarter. The Royals narrowed the lead to 12-9 at the half and jumped ahead 13-12 with 5:34 remaining in the third quarter. Liberty regained the lead (4:22 Q3) with back-to-back goals before Queens put the game away with the next five goals of the game.
In Saturday's tilt, the Lady Flames managed the most caused turnovers (22) in a single game since 2015 (23 against Gardner-Webb). Eight different Lady Flames recorded multiple caused turnovers, led by Kendall Nye with eight. Liberty's record for caused turnovers in a game occurred in 2011, recording 28 against Lees-McRae.
Queens' Kayleen Favreau led all players with seven points (4 g, 3 a). Four Lady Flames, Katie Colavito (4 g, 1 a), Jordan Sheive (3 g, 2 a), Kelly Scott (2 g, 2 a) and Cami Merkel (2 g, 2 a) tallied at least four points on Saturday.
Liberty falls to Queens for the first time in program history, dropping to 2-1 against the Royals. The Lady Flames drop consecutive regular season conference contests for the first time since 2016. Liberty lost back-to-back Big South matchups against Campbell and High Point.
The Lady Flames home record falls to 2-6 in 2024.
