- Texas took the top two spots in qualifying, led by Olivia Bray's pool-record 1:51.51. Defending champion Emma Sticklen of Texas, finished second in qualifying at 1:51.54. Lindsay Looney of Arizona State earned the last spot in the A Final with her 1:53.13. It took 1:54.83 to make the B Final.
- Cannings entered as the 40th seed in the field at 1:56.12. She competed in heat two out of six, finishing fourth in her heat.
- In the A Final, Sticklen defended her 200 fly title, winning in 1:50.99. Kelly Pash of Texas finished second in 1:51.57, while Cal's Rachel Klinker (1:51.62) placed third.
- One day after posting the fastest time by any freshman in the 100 fly (51.45), Cannings' 1:56.72 was eighth best among freshmen in today's 200 fly.
- Cannings is the third Liberty freshman all-time to compete at the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, joining Jess Reinhardt (2013 – 100 fly, 200 fly) and Payton Keiner (2018 – 100 back, 200 back).
- This is the eighth time in 14 years of the program's history that at least one Lady Flame has been selected to compete in the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships. The Lady Flames have had two All-America honorable mention finishers, in Brye Ravettine (13th in 50 free, 2012) and Jess Reinhardt (10th in 100 fly, 2014). All competitors at the cancelled 2020 NCAA Championships were named All-Americans, so Keiner received All-American honors that year.
- Cannings wrapped up a stellar freshman campaign. She set the conference record in the 100 butterfly and won both the 100 and 200 butterfly at the ASUN Championships. The Liberty freshman earned Co-Most Outstanding Female Freshman at the ASUN Meet. Following one season of collegiate swimming, she holds Liberty's program records in the 100 fly (51.26), 100 freestyle (48.72) and 200 freestyle (1:45.67) and is second all-time at Liberty in the 200 butterfly (1:56.12).
