
Liberty Run-Rules Morgan State 10-1 to Close Out 5-0 Weekend

The Lady Flames evened their season record at 7-7 with a perfect 5-0 showing at the Liberty Softball Classic, during which they outscored opponents a combined 29-3. Meanwhile, Morgan State falls to 7-5 on the season after going 1-4 in Lynchburg this weekend.

Turning Point
- Liberty scored in every inning and ended the game early on a two-run walk-off home run by Rachel Roupe in the bottom of the seventh inning.
- Liberty outhit Morgan State 11-2 for the game. The Lady Flames committed two errors compared to one miscue for the Bears. The hosts left five runners on base, while the visitors stranded four.
- Liberty's Kaylan Yoder (2-2) earned the win, allowing one unearned run on two hits, walking two and striking out a career-high 10 batters in four innings pitched. Katie Love pitched a 1-2-3 fifth inning, striking out one.
- Anaya Hunte (2-2) drew the loss, yielding six runs on eight hits, walking two and striking out two in 2 1/3 innings pitched before giving way to Emily Raubauch and Serena Rodriguez.
- Rachel Roupe went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs, three runs scored and four RBI. Megan Fortner (double, homer) and Raigan Barrett (double) both went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Also, Brooke Roberts went 1-for-3 with her second homer of the season.
- Liberty is now 7-2 all-time against Morgan State in softball, winning each of the last six meetings.
- The Lady Flames' 10 runs scored are a season high, while they hit four homers for the first time since March 4, 2023 against Iona.
- Liberty is off to a 5-0 home start for the second year in a row, as the Lady Flames won each of their first 12 home games last year.
- Maddy Tuck is the first Lady Flame since Ava Cino in 2022 vs. Florida Atlantic to reach base in her first career plate appearance.
- Roupe recorded her fourth career two-homer game and first since going deep twice at Queens on May 5, 2023. She also had three extra-base hits that game.
- Roupe is now tied with Kelby Allen (2012-15) for seventh all-time in program history with 26 career home runs.
- Meanwhile, Fortner hit her 30th collegiate homer, spanning her time at Jacksonville State and Liberty.
- Yoder's 10 strikeouts are the most by a Liberty freshman since Julia DiMartino struck out 12 Presbyterian College batters in the Lady Flames' first game at the 2016 Big South Softball Championship.
The Lady Flames head to Norman, Okla., for a tournament hosted by Oklahoma, Friday through Sunday. Liberty will face Tulsa one, along with two meetings each with Oklahoma and Louisiana.
