
Liberty Tops Tulsa, Falls to No. 1 Oklahoma on Day 1 in Norman

The Lady Flames (8-8) saw their winning streak snapped at six games. Meanwhile, three-time defending national champion Oklahoma extended its NCAA Division I-record winning streak to 69 games with wins over Miami (Ohio) and Liberty on its first day at the new 4,200-seat Love's Field. Tulsa fell to 9-6 with the loss to the Lady Flames.

Turning Point
- Liberty scored in five out of its six innings at bat, building an 8-1 lead after a three-run fifth.
- Tulsa battled back by scoring five times in the top of the sixth. Katie Love came on with two on and two out with an 8-6 lead and pitched a four-out save. Â
Notable Numbers
- Tulsa outhit Liberty 13-11 for the game, with both teams committing an error. The Golden Hurricane left 10 runners on base, compared to six stranded for the Lady Flames.
- Elena Escobar (4-0) earned the win, allowing four runs on nine hits, walking two and striking out two in five innings pitched. Tyler Oubre allowed two runs in 2 2/3 innings. Love earned her first career save, yielding one hit in a scoreless 1 1/3 innings.
- Maura Moore (4-3) drew the loss, yielding five runs on four hits, walking three and fanning one in three innings. Kylee Nash gave up five runs in three innings of relief.
- Rachel Roupe went 3-for-4 with two homers, three RBI and three runs scored, her second straight two-homer game. Sierra Kersten batted 2-for-3 with a homer, four RBI and one run. KK Madrey went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and one RBI.
- For Tulsa, Abby Jones went 3-for-4 with a homer, one RBI and two runs scored. Celeste Wood batted 1-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and one run. Imani Edwards and Claira Skaggs contributed two hits each.Â
- Liberty and Tulsa are now 1-1 against each other in softball. Both meetings have come at Oklahoma's Marita Hynes Field, as the Golden Hurricane topped the Lady Flames here in 2014. Â
- Starting as the leadoff batter for the first time in her career, Roupe launched the first pitch she saw deep to left. She is the first Lady Flame since Devyn Howard against Virginia, March 7, 2023, to lead off a game with a home run.
- Roupe is the first Lady Flame since Caroline Hudson, March 5 in both games of a doubleheader versus Radford, with back-to-back two-homer games.
- Roupe homered in three straight at bats, dating to Liberty's 10-1 win over Morgan State on Sunday. She is the first Liberty player since Amber Bishop, Feb. 23, 2020, to hit home runs in three consecutive at bats.
- Kersten posted her third career four-RBI game and second of this season. She drove in four runs against Penn State on Feb. 23.
- Roberts improved her hitting streak to seven straight games.Â

- Kelly Maxwell (5-0) tossed a two-hit shutout for the Sooners, striking out seven.
