
Lady Flames Earn 2nd Straight 2-0 Day at Liberty Softball Classic

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Liberty posted its second straight 2-0 day, defeating both Saint Francis (Pa.) (2-0) and Penn (4-1) on Saturday at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium.
The Lady Flames (6-7) have gone 4-0 so far at the Liberty Softball Classic. Saint Francis (10-5) split a pair of games today, winning on a walk-off homer against Penn and falling to Liberty. Penn (1-3) dropped decisions to both SFU and Liberty today.

- Liberty scored right off the bat in the bottom of the first, as Mary Claire Wilson led off with a triple and scored on a wild pitch. The Lady Flames made it 2-0 on a second-inning double-steal play.
- Tyler Oubre took it from there, shutting out the Red Flash.
- SFU outhit Liberty 3-2 for the game. The Red Flash left five runners on base, while the Lady Flames stranded three.
- Liberty's Tyler Oubre (1-2) recorded her first collegiate shutout, allowing three hits while walking two and striking out five.
- Grace Vesco (4-2) drew the loss, allowing two runs on two hits, walking one and fanning eight.
- Wilson tripled and scored for Liberty, while Hailey Deter doubled and scored a run.
- Lexi Hernandez went 2-for-3 with two doubles for the Red Flash.
- Liberty shut out Saint Francis both yesterday and today. SFU leads the all-time series, 5-3. The Red Flash had won each of the previous three meetings at Liberty Softball Stadium (2015 and 2017).
- Oubre, a transfer from Louisiana, recorded her first career collegiate win and shutout.
- Wilson is now tied for eighth in program history with seven career triples, joining Gina Miller (1996-99), Sarah Robertson (2016-19) and Autumn Bishop (2017-21).

- Liberty's Paige Bachman (1-1) earned the win, allowing one run on three hits, walking six and striking out four in 6 1/3 innings. Elena Escobar pitched the final two outs for the save.
