
Ryan Posts Third Top 5 Finish of 2023-24 to Lead Flames at Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On a day with less-than-ideal playing conditions, Liberty's Josh Ryan found a way to go low again, finishing in fifth place to close out the 2024 Gator Invitational.
The sophomore carded a 3-under par 67, the fourth-lowest individual score posted on Saturday, during a third round that was played in rainy conditions.
On Saturday, the Mark Bostick Golf Course (par 70, 6,701 yards) played more than three strokes over par (73.32 scoring average).
With the threat of prolonged inclement weather forecasted for the weekend, Florida's annual home golf tournament was moved up by one day, allowing the 54-hole event to be completed by early afternoon on Saturday.
Overall, Ryan finished in fifth place in the 84-man field, carding a 6-under par 204 (68-69-67). The score was his third-lowest 54-hole career individual total.
The sophomore played all three rounds in the 60s, giving him seven sub-70 rounds in 2023-24 and 18 total during his young career (18-of-57 career rounds in the 60s/31.6 percent).
Individually, the event was won by North Florida's Nick Gabrelcik, who carded a winning score of 13-under par 197 (68-65-64).
As a team, the Flames finished their second event of the spring season in ninth place out of 15 teams. Liberty carded a 17-over par 857 (285-280-292).
Florida won its home tournament for the 30th time in program history with a winning team score of 26-under par 814 (276-262-276).
North Florida was the only other team in the 15-team field to finish the event in red figures, taking second place with a 13-under par 827 (273-276-278).
