
Liberty Falls to No. 5 Clemson, Missouri

The Lady Flames hold a 1-3 record on the season heading into tomorrow's final day of the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic. Clemson is 3-0 entering tonight's game against Oregon, while Missouri (3-0) takes on South Alabama tonight.

Turning Point
- Liberty took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, cashing in on an RBI double from Kersten and a Craine sacrifice fly.
- Clemson gained a 3-2 lead in the home half, scoring three runs on one hit while receiving two hit batters and three walks.
- The Tigers later built their lead to 7-3. Liberty got two baserunners on in the top of the seventh before Hailey Deter's liner was snared by first baseman Valerie Cagle for the final out.
- For the game, Clemson outhit Liberty 9-7. Both teams committed two errors, while the Tigers left 10 runners on base and the Lady Flames stranded five.
- Brooke McCubbin (2-0) earned the win, allowing one run on five hits, walking one and fanning four in 5 1/3 innings of relief. Freshman Olivia Duncan, making her first collegiate start, allowed two runs on two hits, walking two and striking out one in 1 2/3 innings.
- Liberty's Katie Love (0-1), also making her first collegiate start in the circle, yielded five runs on one hit, walking four and hitting three batters. Louisiana transfer Tyler Oubre made her first appearance as a Lady Flame, allowing two runs on eight hits, walking one and fanning two in five relief innings.
- Alia Logoleo went 3-for-4 with one RBI for Clemson, while Lindsey Garcia batted 2-for-3 with a double, one run scored and one RBI. McKenzie Clark and Alex Brown each scored twice.
- Liberty's Rachel Roupe kept her hot start to the season going, batting 3-for-3 with a walk and one run scored. Sierra Kersten doubled and drove in a run, while Raigan Barrett and Mary Claire Wilson both went 1-for-3 with one run scored.
- Liberty is making its second appearance all-time at the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic, as the Lady Flames opened the 2020 season at this event.

Turning Point
- Leading 4-0 entering the bottom of the third, Missouri broke the game open with a six-run third inning to make it 10-0.
- Roupe jumped on the first pitch of the fourth inning, lacing a homer to right. Fortner followed with a double, but Missouri's Laurin Krings held off Liberty, 10-1.
- Missouri led 7-4 in hits, while both teams committed one error. The Tigers left four runners on base, while Liberty stranded four.
- Krings (2-0) struck out 10 in the complete-game win, allowing one run on four hits.
- Freshman Kaylan Yoder (0-1) drew the loss in her first collegiate start, yielding six runs, five earned, on five hits, walking three and fanning three in two innings. Elena Escobar finished the game with two scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit and striking out one.
- Alex Honnold went 2-for-2 with a double, homer, four RBI and one run scored for Missouri. Mya Dodge hit 1-for-2 with a homer, two RBI and two runs.
