LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty volleyball team opened a four-match homestand with a 3-1 win (25-19, 20-25, 25-21, 25-21) over Sam Houston, Friday at Liberty Arena.
The Lady Flames (12-13, 6-7 CUSA) snapped a four-match winless streak. Sam Houston (13-11, 8-5) came into the match tied for third in CUSA standings after winning four out of its last five matches.

Notable Numbers
- Liberty outhit Sam Houston, .212-.124, with both teams scoring 51 kills. The Bearkats led in digs (80-67), while the Lady Flames led in aces (7-6) and blocks (15.5-9). Liberty's 15.5 blocks were a season high.
- Kate Gammer scored a match-high 22 kills, adding 16 digs for her 33rd career double-double, ninth this season and third in a row. Kamryn Baus sent down 11 kills, while Autumn Flowers sent down a season-high nine kills. Madison Blane tied her own Liberty Arena record (Oct. 28, 2022 versus Austin Peay) with 12 blocks, adding three aces. Erica Lowery collected 15 digs, while Elizabeth Helmich posted six blocks and Charli Morris dished out 23 assists.
- Sam Houston's Lylah Washington registered 21 kills to go along with 15 digs, while Avery Fowler recorded 32 assists, three aces and 10 digs. Hannah Baker collected a match-high 24 digs, while Alyssa Fielder sent down 12 kills. McKenzie Morvant posted six blocks.
- With the match tied at 1-1, Sam Houston used a six-point run to erase a 19-13 deficit in set three. Liberty got kills from four different players down the stretch, when the Lady Flames outscored the Bearkats 6-2 for the 25-21 win.
- Liberty used a 6-0 run to pull away in set four, 21-14. The Lady Flame held off a late rally, winning 25-21.
- Liberty leads the all-time series against Sam Houston, 3-0, with all three meetings ending in 3-1 Lady Flames victories.
- Liberty's 15.5 blocks were its most in a single match since posting 19 blocks versus Austin Peay, Oct. 28, 2022.
- Erica Lowery, who was recognized before the match for surpassing the 1,000 career dig mark, passed Tricia Nice (1990-93) into 20th in program history with 1,024 digs during her time as a Lady Flame since transferring from Texas A&M.
- Blane's 12 blocks tie her own program single-match rally-scoring record for blocks in a four-set match (Oct. 28, 2022 versus Austin Peay). She is now the first Lady Flame in rally-scoring history with three career matches of 11 blocks or more.
- Blane surpassed the 400 career block milestone tonight and currently sits seventh in program history with 410 career blocks.
- Gammer has scored 20 or more kills in each of Liberty's last two home matches (also 26 against Middle Tennessee, Oct. 19). She has posted five career 20-kill matches.
- Tonight was the eighth time this season and 32nd time in their careers that Gammer and Bacus have scored 10 or more kills in the same match. Liberty is 24-8 in those matches.
