ESTERO, Fla. – Midway through the opening around of The Island at West Bay Collegiate Invitational inclement weather moved into the Gulf Coast area on Sunday.
Following the delay, tournament officials decided to cancel the FGCU hosted event due to already saturated course conditions at the West Bay Club.
Additionally, it was determined that it would not be possible to get at least 36 holes of play completed by Monday before Hurricane Milton moves across the state of Florida.
Most teams had completed roughly nine holes of the first round when play was stopped.
The Flames will return to the state of Florida for their next event when they participate in the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational. The two-day event is hosted by Michigan State at Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach, Fla., Oct. 13-14.
