
FIU Rallies for 3-2 Win Over Liberty

MIAMI, Fla. – Liberty won the first two sets in decisive fashion on Wednesday, but the host FIU Panthers fashioned a reverse sweep, edging the Lady Flames 3-2 (16-25, 17-25, 25-10, 25-20, 15-10) at Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
FIU (5-20, 3-9 CUSA) earned its third win in its last four matches, topping Liberty twice this week. These two contests were rescheduled from earlier this month, postponed due to Hurricane Milton. Liberty falls to 11-13, 5-7 in CUSA play with its fourth straight setback.

Liberty returns home for its next four matches, beginning with a pair of contests against Sam Houston, Friday and Saturday at Liberty Arena.

- The Lady Flames outhit the Panthers .217-.189 on the match. However, FIU served up the most aces by a Liberty opponent this season, 17, to the Lady Flames' five.
- Cameryn Jones (12 kills, five blocks), Anna Feldkamp (11kills, six blocks) and Jillian Huckabey (10) all reached double figures in kills for FIU. Savannah Cook totaled six kills, 35 assists, seven digs and four blocks. Mandi Morioka totaled five aces and 14 digs, while Colby Lane recorded four aces and 11 digs.
- Liberty's Kate Gammer registered her second double-double in a row, eighth of the season and 32nd of her career, with a match-high 15 kills and 16 digs. Paige Overcash registered her fourth career double-digit kill match, scoring 10 kills. Madison Blane posted five blocks, while Erica Lowery collected 15 digs and Charli Crowson dished up 22 assists.
- After Liberty raced out to a 2-0 lead, FIU flipped the script in the third set. The Panthers outhit the Lady Flames .462-.095 in the third on the way to a 25-10 victory.
- FIU held off a late rally in the fourth, winning 25-20. The Panthers burst out of the gates in the final session, leading by as many as eight at 11-3. The Lady Flames narrowed the gap to as close as 13-10 before the hosts sealed the match with back-to-back kills.
- FIU now leads the all-time series with Liberty in volleyball at 3-2. The Panthers are 3-1 against the Lady Flames since Liberty joined CUSA last year.
- Current Liberty senior Elizabeth Helmich and FIU senior Cameryn Jones were teammates at James Madison from 2020 through 2023.
- Liberty is now 3-3 in five-set matches this season, while FIU is 2-5 in five-set contests.
- Lowery, who transferred to Liberty from Texas A&M after the 2021 season, collected her 1,000th collegiate dig last Friday. Today, she surpassed the 1,000 digs mark during her time as a Lady Flame. She is now ranked 21st in program history with 1,009 digs at Liberty, passing Lillie Happel (2010-13) today.
- Gammer recorded her 300th kill of the season today, her third straight season with 300 or more kills. She is the first Lady Flame since Casey Goodwin (2017-19) with three straight 300-kill campaigns.
- Blane needs two more blocks to become the seventh player in program history with 400 or more career blocks.
