
Lady Flames Move to 4-0 with Comeback 5-Set Victory Over High Point

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Liberty volleyball team kept its season-opening winning streak alive, overcoming a 2-1 deficit to defeat High Point 3-2 (25-22, 17-25, 20-25, 26-24, 15-12), Thursday at Army's Gillis Field House.
The Lady Flames remain perfect on the season at 4-0 with a win to begin this week's Black Knights Invitational. Meanwhile, defending Big South champion High Point falls to 1-3 on the young season.
Notable Numbers
• High Point held a slight .217-.213 edge in hitting percentage, while the Panthers also led in kills (59-52), aces (14-10) and digs (53-42). The Lady Flames led 14-9 in blocks.
• Kamryn Bacus scored a season-high 22 kills for the Lady Flames at a .294 pace, adding three aces and nine digs. Making her first collegiate appearance, freshman Lily Wagner also hit .294 with eight kills. Madison Blane registered six kills and a season-high eight blocks, while Delaney Dilfer totaled 39 assists, three aces, 13 digs and four blocks. Erica Lowery served up three aces and collected 13 digs.
• High Point's Dylan Maberry tied Bacus for the match lead with 22 kills, while Christine Graf sent down 12 kills. Eve Wilson contributed nine kills and seven blocks, while Allie Gray dished out a match-high 47 assists and led all players with five aces. Jordyn Schilling collected 19 digs and served up three aces.
Turning Point
• High Point built a 2-1 match lead, overcoming an early 9-2 deficit to win set two before leading set three from wire to wire. The Panthers led set four 20-17, just five points from clinching the match. However, Liberty surged ahead at 22-21 and converted on its second set-point attempt, pushing the match to set five with a 26-24 victory.
• The Panthers earned early momentum in the fifth, leading 8-6 at the court change. Liberty quickly took charge from there, scoring four straight points to lead 10-8. High Point narrowed the gap to one at 10-9, 11-10, 12-11 and 13-12. Wagner then scored a kill, followed by a Sydney Whitfield-Madison Blane block sealed the five-set win for the Lady Flames.
