Lady Flames Set to Open Season with Home Tournament

Lynchburg, Va. - 2022 ASUN regular-season champion Liberty begins its first season in Conference USA this year. The Lady Flames open the season by hosting a four-team tournament at Liberty Arena, Friday and Saturday.

- The Lady Flames will face Bucknell, Gardner-Webb and Stony Brook, who will all be making their first visit to Liberty Arena.
- Liberty went 23-9 last season, including 14-2 in ASUN play to claim its first ASUN regular-season title. The Lady Flames fell to FGCU in the ASUN final before hosting the NIVC first and second rounds.
- 2022 ASUN Setter of the Year Delaney Dilfer set a new program 25-point rally-scoring record with 1,371 assists last season, ranking third nationally.
- 2022 ASUN Coach of the Year Trevor Johnson led the Lady Flames to their first conference regular-season title since 2012.
- Junior Kamryn Bacus scored a career-high 23 kills in a thrilling five-set win over her former team, Lipscomb, in the ASUN semifinal round in Nashville on Nov. 18. After leading Lipscomb in kills as a sophomore, she paced Liberty in kills last year, her first as a Lady Flame.
- Bacus and Dilfer were both named to the 2023 CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team. Meanwhile, Liberty was voted third in the CUSA Preseason Coaches Poll.
- 2022 ASUN All-Conference third team member Madison Blane returns, as do 2021 ASUN All-Freshman Team member Kate Phillips, Julia Mangum and starting libero Erica Lowery.
- Liberty welcomes three transfers and two true freshmen to its roster this season.
