
Liberty Looks to Continue Hot Start vs. Tennessee Tech Friday, at UNCW Sunday

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty women's soccer team seeks to build on its first ever 2-0 start this weekend. The Lady Flames host Tennessee Tech on Friday at 7 p.m. at Osborne Stadium then travel to UNCW on Sunday, kick off is set for 1 p.m.

- Liberty achieved its first ever 2-0 start in program history after Sunday's 1-0 win over Delaware. Coach Wedemeyer also collected his first win in a season opener as Liberty head coach on Friday.
- Goalkeeper Ainsley Leja received Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week honors after securing a 2-0 start, allowing a single goal in triumphs over VCU and Delaware.
- After Leja allowed a goal in the 11th minute to VCU's Anna Bagley on Friday, she did not allow a goal for the next 169 minutes of play.
- Forward Chloe Marr recorded an assist on the opening goal of each game last week. The senior has recorded a point in four straight games (3 g, 2 a) dating back to 2022's 3-1 ASUN semifinal victory over EKU.
- Marr has recorded three shots on the season, all registering as shots on goal.
- Liberty extended its program-record unbeaten streak to 15 games (12-0-3). Liberty's last loss was on Sept. 15, 2022.
- The Lady Flames also extend their home unbeaten streak to 11 games (9-0-2). Liberty was undefeated at home in 2022.
- Three Lady Flames, Leja, Rebekah Earnest, and Lena James, have played a full 90 minutes in both games to open the season.
- Midfielder Rachel DeRuby leads the team with six shots. DeRuby netted the opening goal of the season in the sixth minute at VCU on Friday.
- After two games, Liberty has held its opponents to just two corner kicks in the second half of games. The Lady Flames outnumber their opponents 10-8 in total corners taken.
