
Stetson Overcomes Early Deficit to Defeat Liberty in Resumed Game

The Stetson Hatters erased a six-run Liberty lead to down the Flames 13-8 in the resumption of the second game of their ASUN series, Sunday morning at Melching Field at Conrad Park.
With Liberty leading 8-2, Stetson struck for five runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 12-8 and then held off the Flames for the win.
Last night, Liberty plated four runs on four hits in the second before the rain started with two outs, making the field unplayable. The Flames tacked on another run in the inning when the game resumed for a 5-0 lead after two innings and had built an 8-2 advantage in the top of the fourth before the Hatters mounted their comeback.
Liberty third baseman Cam Foster and right fielder Camden Troyer each hit home runs in the contest. Foster hit his team-leading ninth of the season in the second inning last night. Troyer hit his fourth home run of the season in the fourth inning. He also had two hits and two RBI in the contest.
Liberty suffers its third consecutive loss. The Flames drop to 10-10 in the ASUN and 19-23 overall. Stetson moves to 14-6 in ASUN play and 26-17 overall.           Â

Turning PointAfter scoring five runs in the fourth to cut Liberty’s lead to 8-7, Stetson went in front with another big inning in the fifth. The first three Hatters of the inning reached, as they took the lead. Third baseman Drew Wyers singled and second baseman Yohann Dessureault was hit by a pitch to open the inning. Shortstop Lorenzo Meola followed with a single to score both runners to give Stetson the lead.
The next batter, Bermudez, continued the uprising with a single back through the middle, scoring Meola to up the Hatters’ newfound advantage to 10-8.
Later in the inning, catcher Christian Pregent capped the scoring in the inning with a two-run single for a 12-8 lead.
Beyond the Box Score- Stetson takes the series with victories in the first two games of the series.
- Last night, the contest was suspended, with Liberty leading 4-0 with two outs in the top of the second due to inclement weather.
- Troyer and Lazzaro each collected his 13th multi-hit game, tying the duo with Jaylen Guy for the team lead.
Next UpLiberty and Stetson will finish their series later today. The contest will be a seven-inning game.
