5/6/2026 10:28:00 PM | Baseball
Virginia Tech jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first six and half innings of play. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Liberty's Easton Swofford sent a shot into center field, accounting for the Flames' first hit of the game.
Swofford's base hit was followed by four more consecutive hits for the Flames, which allowed Liberty to score four times in the frame.
However, Hokies' pitcher Preston Crowl came in and shut down Liberty's rally, finishing off the final 2 1/3 innings of the game to secure the road win for Virginia Tech.
The loss snaps a six-game win streak for the Flames and drops Liberty's record to 35-14. The Hokies, who have won 10 of their last 13 games, move to 26-21 on the season.
