
No. 13 Virginia Rallies to Down Liberty 7-4

The No. 13 Virginia Cavaliers erased a four-run Liberty lead to slip past the Flames 7-4, Tuesday evening at Disharoon Park.
Liberty plated three runs in the sixth to take a 4-0 lead, only to see Virginia strike seven unanswered runs, including five in the seventh, for the comeback victory.
Flames second baseman Gray Betts drove in two runs with two hits and scored a run. First baseman Brayden Horton added two hits and scored twice for Liberty.
Liberty pitchers Trey Cooper and Ryan Butler did not allow a Virginia batter to reach during the first five innings. The duo retired the first 15 Cavaliers to come to the plate in the contest.
The Flames fall to 19-21 on the season. The Cavaliers move to 33-9.

Turning Point
With the Flames leading 4-1, Virginia plated five runs in the home half of the seventh to take the lead. With one out and a runner on first, center fielder Ethan Anderson singled, and right fielder Casey Saucke walked to load the bases. The next batter, Stephan, walked to force in a run to cut the Liberty edge to 4-2.
After the Flames went to the bullpen, second baseman Henry Godbout singled back through the middle of the diamond, plating two runs to tie the game at 4-4. Two batters later, O’Ferrall singled with two out, scoring Stephan and Godbout to give Virginia a 6-4 lead.
