Stetson outlasted Liberty 8-7 on Sunday at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium, salvaging game three of this weekend’s ASUN series.
The Hatters (23-22. 7-8 ASUN) snapped a four-game winless streak. The Lady Flames (28-15, 12-3) won both games of yesterday’s doubleheader to claim the series victory.

Notable Numbers
- Liberty outhit Stetson 11-8 for the game, but the Hatters scored five unearned runs on five errors by the Lady Flames. Stetson committed two errors but also turned two double plays. The Hatters left six runners on base, while the Lady Flames stranded five.
- Lauren Hobbs (11-8) earned the win, pitching four total innings while allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits, walking one and striking out two. She pitched the first two innings before a trio of relievers covered the middle frames and Hobbs reentered for the final two innings.
- Paige Bachman (7-8) drew the loss, allowing five runs (three earned) on three hits, walking one and striking out one in 2 1/3 innings pitched. Emily Estroff yielded three unearned runs on four hits, fanning four in 2 2/3 innings of relief before Karlie Keeney tossed two innings on one-hit softball with two strikeouts.
- Brianna Clary went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Alyssa Gilman (1-for-4) also scored twice. Marissa Baxter went 2-for-4 with one RBI while Juls Schumacher batted 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored.
- KK Madrey went 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and wo runs scored for Liberty. Rachel Craine batted 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and one run scored, while Megan Fortner went 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored.
Turning Point
- Liberty faced a 7-1 deficit after giving up five runs in the third and two in the fourth. The Lady Flames clawed back to within 7-6 by scoring four times in the bottom of the fifth, getting RBI from Rachel Roupe, Craine, Fortner and KC Machado.
- After Stetson scored an unearned run in the top of the sixth to make it 8-6, Hatters starting pitcher Lauren Hobbs reentered the circle for the final two innings. Liberty narrowed the gap to 8-7 with an unearned tally in the home half of the sixth, but a 1-2-3 Liberty seventh ended the contest.
