
Liberty Downs Bryant 10-3 in Game 1 of Doubleheader

A five-run fifth inning propelled the Liberty Flames past the Bryant Bulldogs 10-3 in the first game of a doubleheader, Saturday at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium.
Leading 3-0 after four innings, Liberty scored five runs in the home half of the fifth to break the game open. Center fielder Jaylen Guy singled home two runs, and designated hitter Victor Castillo had a two-run triple in the inning as the Flames built an 8-0 lead.
Liberty left fielder Three Hillier went 4-for-5 with his first home run of the season, a solo shot in the first inning, in the contest. He had two RBI and scored twice for the Flames.
Center fielder Jaylen Guy and shortstop Jake Lazzaro added two hits apiece, and each drove in two runs for Liberty.
The victory was the 200th of Liberty Head Coach Scott Jackson’s career.
Liberty has won three in a row and five of its last six games. The Flames improve to 5-4 on the season. Bryant falls to 2-7.

Turning PointUp 3-0, the Flames plated five runs in the fifth inning to take a commanding lead. Hiller singled, and Troyer was hit by a pitch to open the home half of the frame. After both runners moved up a base on a wild pitch, second baseman John Simmons walked to fill the sacks with Liberty runners. Two batters later, Guy roped a liner back through the middle to score Hillier and Troyer to give the Flames a 5-0 advantage. Lazzaro followed with an RBI infield single for a 6-0 lead.
Two batters later, Castillo ripped a triple into the right-center field gap, scoring Lazzaro and Guy for an 8-0 advantage.
 Beyond the Box Score- The victory was the 200th of Liberty Head Coach Scott Jackson’s career. In his seventh year at Liberty, he has posted a 200-119 record.
- Liberty posts season-highs with 15 hits and 10 runs in the game.
- Hillier had four hits in a game for the third time in his career. He is the first Flame to collect four hits in a game this season, and it is his second multi-hit game of the year.
