
Liberty Volleyball Adds 5 During Early Signing Period

"This is the best class that we have ever recruited here at LU!" Johnson said. These young women have a desire to work hard and to get better not only on the court, but also want to grow socially, athletically and spiritually. Charli Crowson (S, 6-1, College Station, Texas/Brenham High School)
Charli Crowson has shown versatility as a setter and pin attacker during her career at Brenham High School. Crowson is the first player in school history to record 2,000 or more assists, 1,000 or more kills and 1,000 or more digs in a career. She is a four-year varsity starter, beginning in her freshman year when she was named to the District 19-5A Honorable Mention team in addition to Academic All-District honors. Crowson is a two-time first team all-district selection, recording career highs in assists (886) and digs (347) last season. She has scored a career-high 392 kills so far as a senior, adding 325 digs and 634 assists.

She comes to us from a very good club in Houston and has competed against some of the best players and teams in the country over the last two years. Brooke Crummel brings a strong presence as a middle blocker and outside hitter from West Forsyth High School. She was named a GVCA All-State first team selection as a sophomore, totaling career highs in kills (479) and blocks (108) while helping her team reach the state final four. Crummel is a three-time GVCA All-Region 7A player, including first-team honors in both 2021 and 2023. This year, she was named the 7A Co-Player of the Year in addition to GHSA All-State and GHSA All-Star Tournament honors. The Georgia native has received much national recognition, appearing on the 2022 Ten to Watch by Prep Volleyball, while also making appearances on the AVCA Phenom List, AVCA Watch List and Prep Volleyball Top 150. Crummel has eclipsed the 1,000 career kill mark. She has had an outstanding career at the club level, earning multiple AAU All-American awards and athlete of the month honors while helping her teams to AAU championships in both the 2020-21 and 2021-22 club seasons. Â
Head Coach Trevor Johnson: "Brooke comes to us from a very good training club, A5, that produces great volleyball player after great volleyball player. She has been trained by some of the best club coaches in the country. Brooke has the skill set to play a lot of different positions for us but will help us in the middle her first year. She lives and breathes volleyball and she wants to get better every day. Being 6-foot-3, she is also a tremendous blocker."

Carly O'Brien joins the Lady Flames after a standout career on a state champion Dorman High School team. O'Brien was voted an AVCA All-America second team selection this week. She has been named to the Region 2 5A All-Region team every year of her high school career, being named Defensive Player of the Year as both a freshman and sophomore. After serving as libero her first two seasons, she has thrived since transitioning to outside hitter. Last season, O'Brien was named the Region 2 5A Offensive Player of the Year while earning a spot on the South Carolina All-State Team, scoring 481 kills at a .376 pace while adding 40 aces and 280 digs. She helped Dorman win the state title as a sophomore, collecting a career-high 360 digs.
Head Coach Trevor Johnson: "Carly is a very skilled six-rotation outside hitter with a competitive drive similar to Michael Jordan. Carly has played volleyball since a very young age, and she keeps getting better. She led her high school team to the State Championship in 2023, and led her club team to a AAU National Championship while being named MVP of the AAU National Championship. She plays with a huge chip on her shoulder. We are excited about Carly and what God has planned for her!

A native of Ashe County, North Carolina, Paige Overcash is a three-year team MVP for Ashe County High School. She started her career as a middle blocker before switching to outside hitter as a junior. Overcash is a three-time Northwestern 3A/4A All-Conference selection. Last season, she was named All-State first team, scoring a career-high 408 kills and adding a personal-best 40 aces. She was also named the ACHS Female Athlete of the Year in 2022-23. During her senior season, Overcash has helped her team to a first-place finish in the conference and is nearing 400 kills for the season, giving her more than 1,000 career kills. Â Â
Also a standout in track & field and basketball, she was second place in the State 3A high jump as a junior while also placing first in the region. Overcash was a two-time all-conference basketball player, being named first team all-region last season.
Head Coach Trevor Johnson: "Paige is a five-tool player who can play a variety of positions. She can pass, she can hit, and she can block! Being 6-foot-1, she can really play above the net well. Paige comes from a small town in North Carolina and understands the value of hard work. We have seen her get better each year in club."

Amelia Tomlinson is a strong leader from the backcourt as a libero for Western Albemarle High School. She is a three-time all-district and three-time all-region selection. Tomlinson was voted to the all-state team as both a sophomore and junior, with awards pending for this season. Last season, on her way to second team VHSL Class 4 State second team honors, Tomlinson collected 263 digs while serving up a career-high 53 aces. During her all-state sophomore campaign, she totaled a career-high 372 digs while adding 44 aces. Tomlinson split time between outside hitter and libero as a freshman before switching to libero full-time the following season.
Head Coach Trevor Johnson: "Amelia will be joining us in the spring after graduating high school in December. We are excited to be adding someone of her caliber in our already stellar libero/DS group. Amelia is not only a great player, but a great person who has a tremendous drive to get better. Amelia is also a good beach player and her out of system setting is one of her strengths."
