Liberty senior setter Delaney Dilfer and junior middle blocker Madison Blane were both named to the Conference USA (CUSA) Volleyball All-Academic Team.
Nomination and voting were conducted by academic advisers at all nine member institutions. Nominees were required to have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better, at least a sophomore class standing, and be a starter or key reserve.
A total of 11 student-athletes were honored on the All-Academic Team. UTEP led all schools with three players, followed by Liberty and FIU with two each. Jacksonville State, Middle Tennessee, New Mexico State and Western Kentucky each have one representative.
Blane and Dilfer are the first Liberty players to be named to a conference's All-Academic Team since Aspen Thompson was voted to the ASUN All-Academic Team in spring 2021.
A native of Austin, Texas, Dilfer earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in her undergraduate studies, earning a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies. She currently holds a 4.0 GPA while pursuing a master's degree in applied ministry with discipleship and counseling areas of study.
On the court, Dilfer is ranked second in CUSA with 10.90 assists per set in conference play. The 2022 ASUN Setter of the Year, Dilfer needs 40 more assists to become the 10th active NCAA Division I volleyball player with 4,000 or more career assists. She has registered four 50-assist matches and seven 40-assist contests while also leading the Lady Flames with seven double-doubles.
Hailing from Montgomery, Texas, Blane currently holds a 3.95 GPA while pursuing a bachelor's degree in international relations: strategic intelligence studies. Blane was named to the 2022 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
Blane has been one of the most dominant middle blockers in the nation this season, leading CUSA in both hitting percentage (.423 – 11th nationally) and blocks per set (1.34 – 22nd nationally). She was named CUSA Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 9 and has been voted CUSA Defensive Player of the Week three times. Blane has posted five or more blocks 15 times this season while also contributing 11 double-digit kill matches.
Liberty (15-11, 8-6 CUSA) enters the final weekend of the regular season in a tie for fifth place in Conference USA standings. The Lady Flames will play at third-place (tied) UTEP (18-8, 9-5), Friday and Saturday.
