After a standout week on the attack against the top two teams in the conference, Liberty junior middle blocker Madison Blane has been named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week.
Blane, a native of Montgomery, Texas, receives her first career CUSA Offensive Player of the Week honor. She is the second Lady Flame to be named CUSA Offensive Player of the Week this season, joining Kamryn Bacus (Sept. 4). Blane was previously tabbed CUSA Defensive Player on Sept. 4.
Blane is the first player since 2022 CUSA Player of the Year Lauren Matthews of Western Kentucky to be named both CUSA Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week in the same season.
Facing the top two teams in CUSA standings (Western Kentucky and New Mexico State), Madison Blane was highly efficient, averaging nearly one kill per set more than her season average coming into the week. She totaled 2.94 kills per set at a .409 pace, reaching double-figures in kills in all four matches after coming into the week with three 10-kill matches over the span of the first 14 contests of the season.
On Tuesday, she scored 10 kills at a .421 pace for the Lady Flames in a 3-0 loss to Western Kentucky. Then, on Wednesday she hit .409 with 11 kills as Liberty pushed WKU to the max in a 3-2 setback.
She connected for 12 kills at a .400 pace in Liberty's first CUSA win in program history, a 3-1 win over New Mexico State. On Sunday, Blane tied for the team lead with 14 kills, hitting .406 during a 3-1 setback to NMSU.
Liberty (8-10, 1-5 CUSA) next heads to Alabama to take on former ASUN rival and fellow CUSA newcomer Jacksonville State, Friday and Saturday.
