
Ryan and Flames Sit Atop Ka’anapali Classic Leaderboard After Round 2

LAHAINA, Hawaii - Liberty is prominently featured at the top of the Ka'anapali Classic Round 2 as the Flames and Josh Ryan lead the tournament heading into the final round.
Ryan turned in a clean card on Friday, matching his first-round score and career-low 18-hole total with another 6-under par 65. The sophomore carded six birdies and 12 pars, an impressive feat considering he only birdied one of the three par-5 holes on the course.
Ryan (65-65) sits atop the 120-man leaderboard, sharing the top spot with ETSU's Mats Ege (66-64). Both golfers finished the day with a 12-under par 130 36-hole total.
As a team, Liberty widened its lead during play on Friday. The Flames came into the day with a four-shot advantage. After carding a 12-under par 272, Liberty now leads by five with a 36-hole total of 34-under par 534 (262-272).
The Flames lead a pair of nationally ranked programs in No. 9 ETSU (272-267) and No. 14 Oklahoma (272-267). The duo share second place with a 29-under par 539 total.
Joining Ryan in the top 10 for Liberty is Brett Reid, who is in fifth place with a 10-under par 132 (64-68), and Isaac Simmons, who shares seventh place with an 8-under par 134 (66-68).
The 20-team field will return to the course on Saturday morning for the third and final round of action with play getting underway at 8:30 a.m. HST/2:30 p.m. EST.
