
Liberty Advances to ASUN Semifinals, Defeats Lipscomb

Liberty pulled off the upset to advance in the ASUN Championship as the No. 4 seed Liberty defeated the No. 1 seed Lipscomb, in the North Division, advancing to the ASUN Championship Semifinals. Liberty improves to 5-5-5 this season and will now face North Florida in the ASUN Championship Semifinals.

Lipscomb applyed pressure on Liberty's backline early in the contest, attempting four shots in the first 20 minutes of the game, while Liberty did not attempt a shot during that time. Liberty's first shot proved to be the difference maker as McKinley Burkett's shot proved to be the game-winner in the 21st minute of the game. Lipscomb did its best to mount a comeback, attempting 10 shots in the second half but Liberty's backline was able to withstand the pressure and come away with the shutout.

Liberty will now head to Kennesaw, Ga. next week for the ASUN Championship Semifinals beginning on Thursday, April 15. The Lady Flames will face the No. 1 seed from the South Division, North Florida. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Kennesaw State.
