
Strong Round 2 Scores Push Flames Up Leaderboard

After shaking off the competition rust, Liberty posted the best team score during the afternoon flight to move into third place at the Timuquana Collegiate.
The Flames, who are competing for the first time since COVID-19 shut down the collegiate world last March, carded a 15-under par 273 during their second time around the Timuquana Country Club on Monday.
The best team score on the day at the par-72, 6,949-yard course allowed Liberty to climb five spots up the leaderboard into third place. The Flames enter tomorrow's final round in third place with an aggregate score of 16-under par 560 (287-273).
The Flames will be paired up with golfers from tournament leader Virginia and Florida during Tuesday's final round. The top three teams in the field will be sent off the No. 1 tee (par 4, 406 yards) starting at 8:53 a.m.
Round Recap – Liberty's Starting Five:
• Alexandre Fuchs – 3rd 9-under par 135 (68-67)
• Kieran Vincent – T12 5-under par 139 (72-67)
• Jonathan Yaun – T28 1-under par 143 (74-69)
• Isaac Simmons – T28 1-under par 143 (73-70)
• Ervin Chang – T58 4-over par 148 (74-74)
• Individual – Zach Barbin – T58 4-over par 148 (71-77)
Field Reflections:
• Virginia currently leads the 11-team field by seven strokes following consistent rounds that led to a combined 24-under par 552 (275-277).
• Florida is one stroke ahead of the Flames in second place with a score of 17-under par 559 (278-281).
• Florida State trails Liberty by two strokes, entering the final round at 14-under par 562 (288-274).
• The Flames currently lead the other two ASUN Conference teams that are co-hosted this event – Jacksonville and North Florida.
• Jacksonville is in fifth place with an 11-under par 565 (280-285) and North Florida is tied for sixth place with an 8-under par 568 (281-287).
• A total of 31 players are currently under par, led by Purdue's Joe Weiler, who fired an 11-under par 133 score on Monday (67-66).
Birdies and Bogeys – Liberty Team Notes:
• The Flames are currently paced by Alexandre Fuchs, who is two strokes off the overall lead with a 9-under par 135 (68-67).
• Fuchs took advantage of two eagles and nine birdies on the day to post back-to-back sub-70 rounds.
• Following an even-par round of 72, Kieran Vincent shaved five strokes off his score during the afternoon flight and is tied for 12th place with a 5-under par 139 (72-67).
• Liberty's Jonathan Yaun (74-69) and Isaac Simmons (73-70) both finished in red figure during the afternoon flight and are currently tied for 28th place with a 1-under par 143.
• The Flames led the field on Monday with 41 birdies and played the par-5 holes at a combined 20-under par (second best in the 11-team field).
