Turning Point
Liberty never gave up against the Dukes as they trailed twice but found a way to climb back into the game and eventually pull out the win. Along with clutch goalkeeping by Melody Jayroe in overtime, as she came up with a big save in front of goal in the first overtime, Liberty received a balanced scoring attack. It started with a goal by defensive midfielder, Elisa Warren, scoring off a rebound and then Gabrielle Farrell capitalized off a JMU mistake to score inside the box. To seal the win, freshman Grace Spade's first collegiate goal could not have come at a more crucial time as she flicked the ball with her back heel to send the Lady Flames home with a victory.

Thoughts from Head Coach Lang Wedemeyer
"This team has a lot to be proud of as this is just the second time a Liberty team has beaten a JMU team. They have beaten us the last two years and their record does not indicate how good they are because they have faced five top-20 teams so their schedule might even be harder than ours. We didn't start the game well but credit to our girls because they fought back from 1-0, then to 2-1 and we found a way to win."
Up Next
Liberty will end its non-conference schedule this weekend as the Lady Flames travel to face another in-state opponent in VMI on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Patchin Field.
