No. 16 Liberty continued its unbeaten start to the 2019 season with a 4-2 home victory over visiting Yale on Saturday afternoon at the Liberty Field Hockey Field.
Liberty featured four different goal scorers in the victory – Jill Bolton, Alivia Klopp, Lizzie Hamlett and Daniella Rhodes – and recorded season highs in shots (24) and shots on goal (16).
The Lady Flames improve to 4-0 on the season for the second time in program history (other: 2015). The Bulldogs drop to 1-2 on the year.

Turning Point
Liberty took a 2-0 lead late in the first quarter on a pair of goals from Bolton (13th minute) and Klopp (14th minute). Yale got on the board late in the second quarter on a goal from Anissa Abboud at 28:02, but the Lady Flames responded just 36 seconds later.
After drawing a penalty corner, Liberty's Mallory Fortenbaugh sent a pass to Ashley Dykema. Dykema sent the ball in front of the cage, which met the stick of sophomore Lizzie Hamlett. Hamlett deflected it past Bulldogs netminder Sydney Terroso and into the goal for her second marker of the season, making the score 3-1 in favor of the home side at 28:38. The Lady Flames led 3-1 at the break, a lead they never relinquished. Both sides scored one goal in the second half.

- Liberty drew a season-high seven penalty corners, all of which came in the first half. Yale drew six short corners, four in the second half.
- The Lady Flames have evened the all-time series with the Bulldogs at 1-1. Yale took the first-ever meeting between the two schools in 2017.

Liberty will play its first two road games of the season, next weekend. The Lady Flames will travel to Temple (3-1) for their BIG EAST opener, Friday at 3 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pa. Next Sunday (Sept. 22), Liberty will play a road contest at No. 15 Wake Forest (1-3) at 1 p.m. in Winston-Salem, N.C.
