
Chang Makes Charge During Final Day of General Hackler Championship

Liberty Ervin Chang posted a clean card on Sunday and recorded his third top-10 finish of the spring with a seventh-place showing at the 2018 General Hackler Championship.
The sophomore carded a 7-under par 65 at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club (par 72, 7,233 yards), tying for the fifth best 18-hole total in program history.
The 7-under par 65 final round allowed the Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to climb 31 spots up the individual leaderboard to finish the Coastal Carolina hosted event tied for seventh place.
Overall, the Flames finished the tournament in 12th place out of 15 teams with a 24-over par 888 (299-295-294). All but one of the teams in the 15-team field are currently ranked inside the latest Golfstat.com top 100 team rankings, including No. 2 Texas A&M and No. 8 Georgia Tech.
The Yellow Jackets and the Aggies lived up to their billing, posting a one-two finish in the event. Georgia Tech won the tournament with a 16-under par 848 (283-284-281), while Texas A&M finished five strokes back with an 11-under par 853 (281-290-282).
Georgia Tech's Chris Petefish claimed medalist honors with a winning score of 7-under par 209 (72-68-69).
Following Chang's seventh-place finish, Liberty's next best golfer was Gabe Lench, who finished tied for 38th place with a 5-over par 221 (74-73-74).
Isaiah Logue followed by finishing in 64th place with an 11-over par 227 (76-74-77), Payton Taylor finished in 71st place with a 13-over par 229 (76-73-80) and Mickey DeMorat finished in 76th place with a 15-over par 231 (78-75-78).
The Flames return to action next weekend when they travel back to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., to participate in The Hayt. The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by North Florida at Sawgrass Country Club, next Sunday and Monday.
