With the Liberty volleyball team preparing for its conference home opener, LFSN's Olivia Becker had a chance to interview freshman outside hitter Leah Clayton.
Clayton, a native of Danville, Va., was named Big South Volleyball Player of the Week on Monday after a standout performance last week. She is the fifth Liberty freshman in program history to be named Big South Player of the Week. Clayton scored a career-high 19 kills at Radford last Tuesday, tied for the most by a Liberty freshman in her first career Big South match. She then recorded 18 kills during a 3-2, come-from-behind win at UNC Asheville, on Friday.
Clayton and the Lady Flames (6-9, 1-2 Big South) open a three-match homestand on Friday, welcoming Gardner-Webb to the Vines Center for a 7 p.m. match. Liberty will then host Winthrop on Saturday at 2 p.m., and will face Campbell, Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Vines Center.
