
Lady Flames Fall at No. 11 Louisville, 2-1

Natalie Barr collected her fourth goal of the weekend but it wasn't enough as No. 17 Liberty fell at No. 11 Louisville, 2-1 on Sunday in Louisville, Ky.
The Lady Flames fall to 5-1 on the season following the one-goal setback, while Louisville improves to 5-1.
The Cardinals struck first in the 10th minute when Katherine Gwynne-Wood redirected Elisa Garcia's shot on the Louisville penalty corner.
Liberty tallied three shots in the first half, including one shot on goal when Serena Barr's strike was stoned by Cardinals' goalie, Ayeisha McFerran.
After a back-and-forth start to the second half, the Lady Flames netted the equalizer in the 56th minute of play. Natalie Barr collected the ball and dribbled to the right side of the circle to clear space. Barr then whipped a shot on net, trickling through McFerran's legs to knot the contest at 1-1.
Just three minutes later, the Cardinals regained the lead when Gwynne-Wood connected for her second goal of the contest to give Louisville a 2-1 lead with 11:49 remaining in the second stanza.
Liberty tallied four shots in the remaining 12 minutes but could not find the back of the net for the equalizer.
Overall, the Lady Flames played neck-and-neck with the Cardinals with each team recording 12 shots. Liberty forced four penalty corners to seven from Louisville.
Mallory Cuccio picked up her first loss of the season despite recording six saves. Cuccio now has 156 career saves, 23 shy of passing Ann Jefferis for the most saves in program history.
Liberty will return to action next Sunday when the Lady Flames travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., to take on No. 12 Wake Forest at 1 p.m.
