Liberty women's tennis sophomore Emily Groeneveld has been named the Big South Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season. The conference office announced the award for matches played from March 30-April 5.
Groeneveld finished the week with a perfect 6-0 record, including three doubles wins and three singles wins. Two of the three doubles victories for Groeneveld came as doubles-clinching victories as Liberty claimed the doubles point in each of its three matches against Radford, Winthrop and Gardner-Webb this week. The transfer sophomore also clinched the match against the Runnin' Bulldogs with a 6-3, 6-2 victory from the No. 6 slot. Groeneveld's victory improved the Lady Flames to 7-2 in Big South action for the second consecutive season.
Groeneveld looks to assist the Lady Flames in notching a victory in Liberty's season finale on Thursday. The Lady Flames will travel to Richmond, Va. to take on the Richmond Spiders at 2:30 p.m.
