LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty women's tennis and head coach Dash Connell have announced the signing on Milana Tsulygina. The UFA, Russia, native of the Republic of Bashkortostan, will join the team in January.
"Milana has a lot of talent that she brings to our team," Coach Connell said. "We are excited to see her grow her game at Liberty. She will also be bringing great energy to our group. She will be fun to watch."
Tsulygina was the No. 1 ranked player in the Republic of Bashkortostan. She originally signed with Southeast Missouri in January, but went their separate ways before she committed to Liberty earlier this fall.
She sports a career-high No. 1354 ITF Singles ranking and a 20.5 singles WTN. She held a career-high No. 136 recruiting ranking and a No. 75 tennis RPI. She owns a current 8.49 UTR Ranking.
The Russian native comes from a family of athletes. Her father, Nikolai played in the NHL as a first-round pick by the Anaheim Ducks in 1996-97, as well as over 400 professional games between the AHL and Russia. Both her brothers play hockey in Russia.
