
Player Spotlight with Sara Beth Davis

As we edge closer to the Christmas holiday, LibertyFlames.com continues its player spotlight series with this week's focus on Sara Beth Davis.
Davis is a freshman midfielder from Louisville, Ky. The Kentucky native missed the 2015 campaign following a preseason injury.
Who introduced you to field hockey?
Davis: I was introduced to field hockey by a friend from church when I was in first grade.
Tell me about your family. What do your parents, or guardians, do? How many brothers or sisters do you have and what do they do?
Davis: My dad is a financial advisor and my mom is an auditor for the FDA. I have one older brother and he works at Ford.
If you weren't playing field hockey which sport would you enjoy playing?
Davis: If I wasn't playing field hockey I would be training for American Ninja Warrior.
Tell us your recruiting story on how you got to Liberty.
Davis: I visited Liberty for the first time during the summer going into my junior year of high school. I loved it here, but continued to look at other schools. About a year later I was ready to commit to another school, but I got a call from Coach [Jodi] Murphy and she offered me a position on the team. I spent some time praying about the decision, and the Lord made it clear that this was where He wanted me to be.
If you could get away from field hockey for a little bit, what would you enjoy doing?
Davis: If I could get away from field hockey for a bit I would really enjoy traveling around and hiking different places.
What are you studying, and what do you enjoy about that?
Davis: I'm studying exercise science and I enjoy learning about the body and how it works.
Who were your heroes growing up, and who did you emulate in the backyard or playground?
Davis: Growing up I played basketball, and when the movie High School Musical came out I wanted to be as good as Troy Bolton. I even changed my basketball number to 14 because that's what his was in the movie.
Does your family have any fun traditions for the Christmas holiday?
Davis: On Christmas Eve my family and some family friends would get together and go caroling around our neighborhood. On Christmas Day, my extended family always gets together to celebrate.
What is your favorite Christmas movie and why?
Davis: My favorite Christmas Movie is Elf because no matter how many times I watch it, I still think it's hilarious.
