Liberty rising sophomore Bethany Wakeley contested a time trial in the 100-meter butterfly Friday at the 2011 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships in Palo Alto, Calif.
Wakeley finished with a time of 1:02.61, an improvement on her 1:03.12 from Tuesday's time trial. She previously qualified to compete in the 2011 AT&T Winter National Championships, which will take place Dec. 1-3 at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga. That meet would give her another chance to attain the 2012 USA Olympic Trials qualifying standard of 1:01.99.
Fellow rising sophomore Brye Ravettine posted a 26.58 in Friday's 50-meter freestyle time trial, one-tenth of a second off her performance in the 50-meter prelim from Thursday.
On Saturday, the final day of the meet, Ravettine will make one more attempt at the 50-meter freestyle Olympic Trials standard of 26.39. In addition to Ravettine's 50-meter time trial, she and Sarah McCorkle will both complete 100-meter freestyle trials.
