Liberty will face four-time defending national champion Penn State on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in the first round of the 2011 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship. The Lady Flames (20-12) will travel to University Park, Pa., to take on the national No. 8 seed Nittany Lions (23-7).
Liberty will make its sixth appearance in the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship, and first since 2008. The team has had recent success in the national tournament, claiming one set from each of its last two NCAA postseason opponents.
This year, the Lady Flames are currently on a four-match winning streak, as the team is 11-1 in its last 12 matches.
LibertyFlames.com's Nick Pierce sat down with Liberty head volleyball coach Shane Pinder for an interview. Pierce and Pinder discussed the Lady Flames' first-round matchup against Penn State, and Pinder provided insight into Liberty's preparation for the postseason.
