Liberty struck first, scoring a run in the top of the second. With one out, McMillon ripped a double to right center. After Bridgett Woods struck out swinging, Meredith Baisden walked to put runners on first and second with two outs.
Leadoff batter Cassie Hendrix then smacked a single to left field, and after left-fielder Nichole Simmons lost control of the ball, McMillon rounded third to score.
The Lancers responded by scoring a run of their own in the bottom of the third. With one out, Kami Nuckols singled through the left side, then stole second. After Camille Ketsdever grounded out to shortstop, Courtney Long singled to right field to drive in Nuckols, tying the game, 1-1.
The next three innings were scoreless, as each team stranded four base runners during the span. Strickland singled up the middle in the top of the fifth, and pinch hitter Kaylee West reached on a single to left center in the top of the sixth.
With one out in the top of the seventh inning, Amber DePasquale kick started the comeback with a single up the middle, and advanced to second when Beth Bennett singled through the left side. J'nae Jefferson then singled to center field to load the bases.
On the next play, Danielle Howard reached on a fielder's choice, as DePasquale was thrown out at home by third baseman Amy Betterton.
With the bases still loaded, McMillon stepped up for her RBI single, giving the Lady Flames a 2-1 lead. On the same play, Jefferson was thrown out at home by right fielder Ketsdever.
The Lancers couldn't muster any offense in the bottom of the seventh, and the Liberty defense recorded three straight outs to end the game.
McMillon led the Lady Flames, batting 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, while DePasquale, Bennett and Jefferson each logged two hits in the game.
Long led the Lancers, batting 1-for-3 with an RBI.
