Haley Sampson joined the Liberty softball staff in Jan. 2025, and she currently serves as director of operations.
In her current role, Sampson oversees the business operations of the Liberty Softball team. This includes but is not limited to: running daily operations of the team, supervising a team of student managers to assist with practice, managing and overseeing team travel and meals, ordering and overseeing all equipment and gear and other business-related responsibilities.
For the last four seasons (2021-24), Sampson served as an assistant coach on Kevin Fagan’s coaching staff at Emmaneul College. During her four seasons at Emmanuel, she helped the team post a 121-96 record. That included the two winningest seasons in program history (37-22 in 2022 and 35-24 in 2024) and the squad’s first-ever bid to the NCAA Championship.
Sampson spent one season (2018) on Dot Richardson’s staff at Liberty, serving as a graduate assistant. The Lady Flames had a record-setting season, going 49-14 and 18-3 in Big South play, winning the Big South regular-season title for the second year in a row. The Lady Flames claimed the Big South Softball Championship title by sweeping through the conference tournament. Then, Liberty won its first two games at the NCAA Columbia Regional, upsetting No. 24/24 Hofstra and No. 10/11 South Carolina to advance to the Regional final.
A three-year starter at Auburn, Sampson helped the Tigers earn back-to-back berths in the Women’s College World Series, including an appearance in the national final as a junior in 2016. She began her career at South Alabama, where she was named Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year while also being named to the NFCA All-Region first team. As a freshman, she hit .352 with 11 homers and 51 RBI. During the span of her four-year career, Fagan batted .331 with a .689 slugging percentage, 27 doubles, three triples, 34 home runs, 147 RBI and 134 run scored in 192 games played between South Alabama (2013) and Auburn (2015-17).
Following the close of her collegiate career, Sampson played for the Akron Racers during the summer of 2017. Playing alongside her older sister, Sami Fagan, she helped the Racers post a 26-24 record and third-place finish.
A native of Dunnellon, Fla., Sampson comes from an athletic family. Her father, Kevin Fagan, played for the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL from 1986-93, winning two Super Bowl titles. Her older sisters, Sami (Florida, 2012, Missouri, 2014-16) and Kasey (Florida, 2011-12, Arkansas, 2014-15) both played softball in the SEC. Her youngest sister, Cameron, played softball at Virginia Tech from 2021 through 2024.
Sampson graduated from Auburn in May 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in media studies.
Haley Fagan joins her older sisters, Associate Head Coach Kasey Fagan and Assistant Coach Sami Fagan, on Dot Richardson’s staff.
