Student-Athlete Q&A
What made Liberty University the right place for you to attend college/compete at the collegiate level?
The welcoming community and implementation of Christian values drew me to Liberty University. Aside from this, the facilities along with the amazing coaches who have created a winning program were strong factors in my decision to go to Liberty. Getting to play with my older sister was a huge bonus of choosing Liberty as well.
Is there anything special you do pregame or postgame and why?
One of my pregame rituals is listening to worship music and spending quiet time with the Lord to get my head right. I also religiously eat a pack of gummies before every game.
Who in your life inspires you and why are they such an inspiration?
My dad is a huge inspiration in my life. His dedication to fitness and health inspires me in my soccer journey and pushes me to be my best. He wakes up at 5am every morning, rain or shine to go workout and eats cleaner than anyone I've ever met. On top of his dedication to his well-being he lives out a Godly life and has a heart for others. He leads our family closer to the Lord and is the most caring and fun dad!
What is your most memorable athletic moment/accomplishment?
My most memorable athletic accomplishment was winning the indoor 500m State Championship my senior year and finishing 10th in the nation.
Do you have any relatives who are playing or have played college or professional sports? (Names, relation to you, what/where they played)?
My father, Nelson Garner played football at James Madison University and professional football in the AFL.
Favorite meal (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and what is that special meal?
Salmon Bowls are my favorite.
What is the first app you check on your phone each day?
I check Snapchat first in the morning every day.
What is your favorite hobby outside of athletics?
Cooking is my favorite hobby.
Do you have any current pets (name and type of animal)?
I have a dog, named Tae.
Who was your favorite athlete growing up?
Sydney McLaughlin
What is your favorite possession and why?
My speaker is my favorite possession because I love music and listen to it all the time.
What is your Go-To karaoke song?
Bad Romance by Lady Gaga
What is your dream vacation spot and why?
My dream vacation spot is Switzerland. I think the country is absolutely beautiful in the summer and winter. It is especially attractive in the winter because of the amazing ski slopes.
