
No. 13 Lady Flames to Match Up With RedHawks, Mountaineers in 2 Home Games

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The No. 13-ranked Liberty field hockey team will continue its homestand with games against Miami (Ohio) and Appalachian State over the weekend.
The Lady Flames (4-2) will play at the Liberty Field Hockey Field on back-to-back days, starting with a Saturday showdown with the Miami RedHawks (2-3). Game time is noon. On Sunday at 1 p.m., Liberty will match up with Appalachian State (4-2). Sunday's game will be carried live on ESPN+.
Liberty split a pair of home games last weekend, falling 2-1 to No. 11 Virginia on Friday before bouncing back to defeat Longwood 8-0 last Sunday. UVA snapped the Lady Flames' 14-match home winning streak. Liberty's Clarisa Iudicello, who scored four goals in the two games, was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.
Miami is 2-3 on the year but has played a daunting schedule. The RedHawks faced the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country last weekend. Miami fell 2-1 to No. 2 Iowa and 2-0 to No. 1 Northwestern. App State lost its most recent game to No. 6 Wake Forest by a 6-0 score.

- Clarisa Iudicello earned her first career BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor. The sensational rookie leads the team in goals (5) and shares the team lead in points (10). Iudicello notched her first career three-goal game in the win over the Longwood Lancers and added a goal against Virginia.
- Julieta Tornati garnered BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll distinction for a second straight week. She tallied one goal, one assist and three points against UVA and Longwood. Tornati ranks second on the team in goals (4), tied for second in assists (2) and tied for first in points (10).
- Liberty and Miami will be squaring off for the first time in field hockey in what is a battle between defending conference champions. The Lady Flames won the BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles in 2025, and the RedHawks claimed the MAC regular season and tournament titles last year.
- The Lady Flames and Appalachian State Mountaineers will be meeting for the third straight year and 11th time overall. Liberty holds a 9-1 edge in the all-time series. Last year, the Lady Flames claimed a 7-1 road win. Zoé Gaillard set a new single-game program record with five goals in that game.
- The Lady Flames remain in the No. 13 spot in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll this week.
- The Lady Flames are also among the top 15 squads in the country in penalty corners per game (No. 5, 8.50), defensive saves (No. 5, 3), points per game (No. 10, 10.67), goals per game (No. 11, 3.83), scoring average (No. 11, 3.72), scoring margin (No. 11, 2.59), goals-against average (No. 15, 1.13) and assists per game (No. 15, 3.00).
- Iudicello ranks 27th nationally and fourth in the BIG EAST in goals per game (0.83). Sophomore goalkeeper Diane Saint Martin is No. 17 in the country in goals-against average (1.15).
- The Lady Flames are 26-4 at home in the last three-plus seasons, going unbeaten in two of those (2023, 2025).
