Liberty's Luke Libbey kicked off his junior year with some new career bests during the Flames' season-opening event at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate.
Libbey carded a 3-under par 207 (74-65-68) during his three trips around Fox Den Country Club (par 70, 6,962 yards). He finished the Tennessee hosted tournament tied for 13th place.
This was Libbey's first top 20 finish as a part of Liberty's starting lineup and included a new career low with a 5-under par 65 during Monday's afternoon flight.
The 207 also marked a new career 54-hole low for Libbey, besting his even par 213 (67-71-75) at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate (March 23-24, 2026) and an even par 213 (69-68-76) at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial (April 13-14, 2026).
As a team, the Flames finished the event in 10th place out of 17 teams, carding a 1-under par 839 (284-275-280).
The tournament field included 13 teams who advance to the NCAA Regionals in 2026 and eight teams who finished last year ranked inside the top 50.
Host Tennessee stormed the Fox Den Country Club on Tuesday, carding a 14-under par 266, which was eight shots better than any other team in the 17-team field.
The stellar play on Tuesday allowed the Vols to jump up the leaderboard to claim the team title at their event for the third time in four years with a winning score of 15-under par 825 (277-282-266).
Joining Libbey inside the top 25 was fellow junior Michael Lugiano, who finished the event tied for 23rd place with a 1-under par 209 (69-70-70). Libbey and Lugiano paced the Flames at the event, each signing for 12 birdies.
