Field Hockey’s Semmartin Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty field hockey's Dara Semmartin was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll in the first weekly awards of the year, announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office.
This is Semmartin's fourth career BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll distinction and first since Oct. 20, 2025. She earned seven weekly awards a season ago – five BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors and two BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll mentions.
Semmartin, a junior defender who hails from Buenos Aires, Argentina, led the team with five points in a pair of games during opening weekend. She tallied two goals, tied for most on the team, and an assist and was 1-of-1 on penalty stroke attempts.
In the Lady Flames' win at Maine in the season opener last Friday, she led the way with a game-high two goals. Semmartin scored Liberty's first penalty corner goal of 2026 in the 23rd minute, finding the right side of the cage. In the 43rd minute, Semmartin, notched the Lady Flames' first penalty stroke goal of the year to push the lead to 4-0 in an eventual 5-0 triumph.
In Saturday's neutral-site matchup versus No. 15 UMass, Semmartin assisted on Teshawn De La Rey's first collegiate goal, a penalty corner tally as time expired in the second quarter to tie the game at 1-all. Semmartin's assist was the 28th of her career, tied for eighth most in program history.
Semmartin and No. 14-ranked Liberty (1-1) will face Saint Joseph's (1-1) on the road, Friday at 3 p.m. at Ellen Ryan Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
