After claiming its second Conference USA title in the last three seasons, Liberty is once again headed to the West Coast for its ninth NCAA Regional appearance in the last 10 seasons.
The Flames will be the No. 11 seed at the NCAA Corvallis Regional, May 18-20. The three-day, 54-hole event will be contested at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Ore. (par 72, 7,384 yards).
In total, Liberty is making the program's 15th appearance at an NCAA Men's Golf Regional and the 13th in the last 15 regional events.
This is the sixth time the Flames have crossed the United States to play in an NCAA Regional, joining the 2011 team (NCAA Arizona Regional – Tucson, Ariz.), 2014 team (NCAA Eugene Regional – Eugene, Ore.), 2016 team (NCAA Albuquerque Regional – Albuquerque, N.M.), 2022 team (NCAA Stockton Regional – Stockton, Calif.) and the 2024 team (NCAA Standford Regional – Stanford, Calif.)
This is Liberty's ninth trip to the NCAA Regionals after claiming the conference's automatic bid to the postseason event.
Last week, Liberty claimed its second CUSA title following a pair of match-play victories at the Texarkana Country Club (par 72, 6,969 yards) in Texarkana, Ark. Liberty knocked off No. 2 seed New Mexico State, 4&1, in the semifinals and No. 1 seed UTEP, 3.5-1.5, in the championship match.
Liberty has now won multiple conference titles in three different conferences – Big South Conference (2011, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018), ASUN Conference (2021 and 2023) and Conference USA (2024 and 2026).
The Flames also advanced to postseason regional play with an at-large selection in 2003, 2006, 2013, 2017, 2019 and 2022.
A practice round will be held on Sunday, May 17 with the NCAA Regionals getting underway on Monday, May 18.
The NCAA Corvallis Regional was one of six NCAA Men's Golf Regionals announced by the NCAA Men's Golf Selection Committee during a special Selection Show broadcast, Wednesday afternoon, on the Golf Channel.
Three regional sites have 13 teams and 10 individuals and three will have 14 teams and five individuals. The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team (six individuals total) from each regional site will advance to play in the championships at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
The men's championship will be held Friday, May 29 to Wednesday, June 3, with GOLF Channel providing live coverage of the final day of individual championship play on June 1, as well as, the team match play on June 2-3.
With a top-five finish at this year's NCAA Corvallis Regional, the Flames would make their fifth appearance in program history at the NCAA Men's Golf National Championship.
Liberty has made four previous appearances at the national championship event (2012: 12th; 2019: 20th; 2021: 21st; 2022: 26th). The 2021 and 2022 national championship events were also hosted at Grayhawk Golf Club.
The 10th-place showing for the Flames in 2012 at the famed Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. is the second-best finish by a Liberty team at a NCAA Division I national championship event.
