
Menna, Rajala Sweep ASUN Weekly Awards

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty Lacrosse's Ava Menna (Defensive) and Ava Rajala (Offensive) were recognized as the Atlantic Sun Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
The Lady Flames receive the team's fourth and fifth weekly awards this season. Previously receiving the honors were Katie Colavitio (April 13), Rachel Hines (April 6) and Sophia Nesci (March 23) .
The pair helped lead Liberty to a set of crucial ASUN victories on the road at Coastal Carolina (10-4) on Thursday and at Queens (19-9) on Saturday. The victories cemented the Lady Flames as the No. 3 seed in the ASUN Women's Lacrosse Championship beginning on Tuesday April 28.
Menna helped Liberty control possession over the week including a record-setting performance on Saturday. Against Queens, Menna enjoyed a career day with 21 draw controls, breaking her own program record (18) which she set last season, also at Queens. She is currently second all-time in program history with 263 career draw controls.
Rajala was accounted for over half the offense on Saturday, totaling 10 points with four goals and six assists. She also added a goal and two assists at Coastal. Her 10-point performance is the second-most in program history for a single game. The senior now leads Liberty with 55 and 32 assists, along with 23 goals.
Liberty (7-9, 5-2 ASUN) wraps up the regular season at home, hosting ASUN unbeaten Delaware (11-4, 7-0 ASUN) on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
